Recent Activities Of His Excellency MR Jam Khan Shoro Honorable Minister Livestock And Fisheries Sindh
The Livestock and Fisheries Department has launched a new website under the Link www.livestocksindh.gov.pk.
Sindh Agricultural Growth Project funded by World Bank has started its operation from Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad Districts in which 153 milk chillers will be installed. Apart from this, staff and livestock farmers will be trained, Artificial Insemination training center will be established at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam and 121 flood/rain affected Hospitals/ Dispensaries and 6 Laboratories (CVDL sub centers) will be renovated and rehabilitated.
JICA Project on Sustainable Livestock production in Rural Sindh (JICA grant) is working for rearing of Buffalo calves with the cooperation of Japanese experts and local Livestock Farmers.
Richmond Crawford Govt. Veterinary Hospital M.A Jinnah Road Karachi has been well equipped and modernized. It includes ultrasound, X-ray and State Of The Art Operation Theater.
Now video conferencing system has been introduced in the department. Honorable Minister has started meeting through video conference system so that Communication gaps can be filled/ bridged.
New sub center of Central Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (CVDL) has been established in Khairpur Mirs and it has started its function.
An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA test) detects immune responses in the body. ELISA tests can detect hormones, bacterial antigens, and antibodies. This test has been established in Tharparkar and Larkana.
In this department we have initiated Number of steps for the development of this very important Department.
Recently we have established a separate post of Deputy Director Livestock/ Animal Husbandry at Kohistan @ Thano Boola Khan.
We have created a post of Deputy Director, Livestock / Animal Husbandry, Kachho at Johi.
A post of Deputy Director Livestock/ Animal Husbandry Nara Canal @ Choondko, District Khairpur Mirs has also been created so that veterinary services can be provided effectively and efficiently.
We also initiated a campaign with the collaboration of FAO of the United Nations against PPR (Pest des Petites Ruminants) disease in Tharparkar
We have recruited/ Appointed 145 Veterinary Officers in Sindh on contract basis so that expert services can be provided to Livestock herders.
We collected / received important assets from Pakistan Dairy Development Board in which 14 vehicles and 24 Motorcycles. All these assets are handed over to staff in Tharparkar and other Districts of Sindh Province.
We took efforts and brought camel pox vaccine from Jordan for the affected camels in Nara, Thatta and other parts of Sindh.
Department of Livestock and Fisheries has launched a website. After launching this website general public is getting awareness about the services of Livestock and Fisheries department. Public is now able to contact us directly through this website. It has a contact us page where people can call us and keep in touch with us through this electronic mean. This website contains all information of departmental structure, its organogram, Livestock and Fish breeds and different farming patterns. It has now become a source of common people. It will definitely improve the socio economic conditions of Livestock Farmers and businessmen related to Livestock products and by products.
