Sindh Agricultural Growth Project – Livestock component has been launched by Sindh Government through Livestock and Fisheries Department in assistance with World Bank. Project covers 765 villages in selected Districts are Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Thatta, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushehro feroz, Khairpur, Sukkur & Larkana. 153 MPGs will be established. Over 30,000 milking Animals will be registered for Dairy Value Chain activity. Capacity building of Livestock farmers as well as existing staff of the department. Establishment of Artificial Insemination training center at Tandojam. Rehabilitation 121 rain/ flood affected veterinary institutions.

Introduction

Livestock & Fisheries Department caters to the requirements of livestock sector in the province. Livestock is increasingly becoming a very important sector of national economy, contributing even more than all the other agricultural crops combined. Livestock & Fisheries Department strives to ensure growth and development of livestock sector in the province thus contributing to national food security, economic uplift, rural development, poverty alleviation, employment generation and foreign exchange earning.
